About Us
Connie (Reichwein) Huffine is the Executive Director of The Dovetail Group and The Dovetail House (an affiliated but separate organization). She has over 40 years of leadership experience in both the corporate and faith-based Christian communities. Throughout her life, however, she has had a lasting love of dance. She is a choreographer with experience as a ballroom dancer/teacher and interpretive dance worship leader. She is the author of the Leadership and Life Skills Curriculum (being followers of Christ and leaders of men) which has been taught through dance and adapted for teens and adults, inner city youth, jail inmates, and the corporate community.

The Dovetail Group, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is home to the five organizations featured on the website. The original, His Handmaids, was founded in 1988.
Our Name
Jesus was a carpenter. We suspect he was a master at his craft, his earthly profession.
As the carpenter’s seamless dovetail joints elegantly and tightly bind wood with wood, so the Holy Spirit dovetails God with man. When we experience the love and leadership of Jesus Christ first hand, following Him becomes a perfect and natural fit. We learn that the puzzle pieces of our lives . . . friends, circumstances, and life direction are perfectly designed and grafted together by the Master Craftsman.
When the grace of God, that freely given, unmerited favor, is joined with the human spirit, God’s graciousness abounds and life becomes a delightful and exciting adventure.
Leading and following each other on the dance floor is an eye-opening experience allowing us to “taste and see” that the Lord has dovetailed us to himself. When we comprehend that truth, real freedom becomes a reality.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to produce leaders who can move people closer to Jesus Christ. We do that by offering the place, the skills, the tools, and fertile ground for them to be confident role models as children of God who are free to worship Him and enjoy life and relationships as his followers.
